DAY 4 – BUENOS AIRES → EL CALAFATE
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport. Flight to El Calafate. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Depending on arrival time, you may take the optional Balcones del Calafate tour (3 hours, departure at 3 PM from the hotel).

From El Balcón, an impressive natural viewpoint, you will enjoy panoramic views of El Calafate and the central body of Lake Argentino. The route offers views of the Andes, the glacier accumulation area, and the Boca del Diablo (the narrowest part of the lake, toward the Upsala arm). On clear days, you may also see Mount Fitz Roy and Mount Torre in El Chaltén, as well as condors in flight.

The route continues through high-altitude landscapes with diverse vegetation, reaching 1,050 meters above sea level. The first stop is a natural viewpoint overlooking El Calafate and Lake Argentino, with the Andes as a backdrop. Weather permitting, views of the glacier accumulation zone, Boca del Diablo, and the mountains of El Chaltén are possible. With luck, you may also spot the majestic Patagonian condor.

The path continues to the Stone Labyrinth, a Cretaceous-period formation from 85 million years ago, once the bed of an ancient river. Fossils can still be found in the area. A snack is included at Huyliche Lodge. The descent follows the northern slope of the hill toward Piedra de los Sombreros—rare iron concretions found in only four places worldwide.
Return to El Calafate with constant views of Lake Argentino.
Accommodation.

DAY 5 – EL CALAFATE (PERITO MORENO GLACIER + NAUTICAL SAFARI)
Breakfast. We depart El Calafate and after 85 km arrive at Perito Moreno Glacier, formed around 30,000 years ago. The glacier’s front wall reaches up to 80 meters in height and spans 3 kilometers. It is the only glacier in the world that advances across a body of water, separating the South Arm from the Rico Arm of Lake Argentino.

The tour consists of observing the glacier from land through various viewpoints, each closer than the last, allowing us to witness its extraordinary beauty and, occasionally, ice calving events.
Return to the meeting point.

Next, we take the Nautical Safari.

This navigation on Lake Rico allows us to appreciate the icebergs that detach from the glacier’s walls. Reaching the southern end of the Icebergs Channel, the boat will approach the glacier at a safe distance, sailing along its entire front wall. Departures take place from Bajo de las Sombras Bay, about 6 km from the main viewpoint. This experience offers a unique perspective of the glacier’s impressive ice walls and recurring calving events—perfect for photography and filming.

Accommodation.
