Crucero Australis. Fiords of Tierra del Fuego. Ushuaia to Punta Arenas

USHUAIA / PUNTA ARENAS

Day 1: USHUAIA
Between 10:00 and 17:00 hrs we will complete the check-in process at the Tolkeyen Patagonia Turismo office, located at Av. San Martín 409, Ushuaia – Argentina, in order to board at 18:00 hrs.
After boarding, we will gather on the fifth deck for a welcome toast and to meet the Captain and crew. Afterwards, the ship will set sail toward the southernmost regions.
Through the mythical Beagle Channel and the Strait of Magellan, we will enter Patagonia and the waterways of Tierra del Fuego.

Day 2: CAPE HORN AND WULAIA BAY
We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay, arriving at Cape Horn National Park, where we will disembark —weather permitting— to experience the magic of walking one of the southernmost points in the world, surrounded by charm and legends.
In the afternoon we will disembark at Wulaia Bay, a historic site that was once one of the largest settlements of the Yámana canoeing natives. We will reach a viewpoint by walking through the Magellanic forest, where lengas, coigües, canelos and ferns grow, among other species.

Day 3: PIA GLACIER AND PORTER GLACIER
In the morning we will sail through the northwestern arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark at Pia Fjord.
We will take an excursion to the viewpoint from which the homonymous glacier can be observed, with its main tongue stretching from high in the mountain range all the way to the sea.
In the afternoon, we will take a Zodiac navigation excursion without disembarking. We will advance between tall rocky walls until reaching the imposing Porter Glacier and contemplate it face to face.

Day 4: AGUILA GLACIER AND CONDOR GLACIER
In the morning we will sail through the Cockburn Channel to enter Agostini Fjord, where it will be possible to appreciate the glaciers descending from the center of the Darwin Range, some of them reaching the sea.
After breakfast, we will disembark in Zodiac boats for a gentle walk around a lagoon formed by the melting of Aguila Glacier, reaching a point where we can admire it up close.
In the afternoon, we will take a Zodiac navigation excursion without disembarking to approach Condor Glacier from a privileged distance. We will learn about glacier formation and its influence on the abrupt geography of the Fuegian channels.

Day 5: MAGDALENA ISLAND AND PUNTA ARENAS
Early in the morning, we will disembark on Magdalena Island —weather permitting. On the island we will observe a colony of Magellanic penguins.
In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a landing on Marta Island, where South American sea lions can be observed from Zodiac boats. Finally, we will arrive in Punta Arenas, disembarking at approximately 12:30 hrs.
