ITINERARY – STRAIT OF MAGELLAN

DAY 1: Punta Arenas
DAY 2: Ainsworth Bay – Tuckers Islets*
DAY 3: Pia Glacier – Glacier Alley**
DAY 4: Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay
DAY 5: Ushuaia
DAY 6: Cape Horn – Wulaia Bay
DAY 7: Pia Glacier – Porter Glacier
DAY 8: Aguila Glacier – Condor Glacier
DAY 9: Magdalena Island*** – Punta Arenas

Day 1: PUNTA ARENAS
Between 13:00 and 17:00 hrs we will complete the check-in process at Prat Pier (EPA), Av. Costanera del Estrecho de Magallanes 1398, Punta Arenas – Chile, and then board at 18:00 hrs.
PUNTA ARENAS
Once on board, we will meet on the fifth deck for a welcome toast and to meet the Captain and the crew. Afterwards, the ship will set sail toward the southern end of the continent.
Through the mythical Strait of Magellan and the Beagle Channel, we will enter Patagonia and the fjords of Tierra del Fuego.

Day 2: AINSWORTH BAY AND TUCKERS ISLETS
We will arrive near the Marinelli Glacier in Ainsworth Bay. We will learn how life re-emerges after the retreat of the ice. We will take a walk through the wonderful subantarctic Magellanic forest.
We will visit the Tuckers Islets where, from the Zodiacs, we will observe Magellanic penguins and cormorants.
*Due to the penguins’ migratory cycle, in September and April this excursion is replaced by a walk near a glacier in Brookes Bay.

Day 3: PIA GLACIER AND GLACIER ALLEY
We will sail through the northwestern arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark at Pia Fjord.
We will take an excursion to the viewpoint from which the homonymous glacier can be observed, with its main tongue stretching from high in the mountain range all the way to the sea. After this unforgettable experience, we will continue sailing under the majestic presence of Glacier Alley to enjoy the spectacular panoramas from the ship.

Day 4: CAPE HORN AND WULAIA BAY
We will arrive at Cape Horn National Park, where we will disembark —weather permitting— to experience the magic of walking one of the southernmost points in the world, surrounded by charm and legends.
In the afternoon, we will disembark in Wulaia Bay, a historic site that was one of the largest settlements of the Yámana canoeing natives. We will reach a viewpoint by walking through a Magellanic forest where lengas, coigües, canelos and ferns grow, among other species.

Day 5: USHUAIA
Arrival in Ushuaia, Argentina’s most important city in Tierra del Fuego and the southernmost city in the world.
We will disembark at 08:30 hrs to explore the city and enjoy its restaurants, shops and museums, among other attractions.
Boarding will take place at 18:00 hrs. The crew, led by the Captain, will welcome you on board. A toast will follow with those who will be your fellow travelers. Afterwards, the ship will set sail toward the End of the World.

Day 6: CAPE HORN AND WULAIA BAY
We will sail through the Murray Channel and Nassau Bay, arriving at Cape Horn National Park, where —weather permitting— we will disembark using Zodiac boats.
In the afternoon, we will disembark at Wulaia Bay, where different types of excursions take place, making each visit a unique experience.

Day 7: PIA GLACIER AND PORTER GLACIER
In the morning, we will sail through the northwestern arm of the Beagle Channel to enter and disembark at Pia Fjord.
We will take an excursion to the viewpoint from which the glacier can be observed, with its main tongue descending from the mountains to the sea.
In the afternoon, we will take a Zodiac navigation excursion without disembarkation. We will advance between tall rocky walls until reaching the impressive Porter Glacier and contemplate it face to face.

Day 8: AGUILA GLACIER AND CONDOR GLACIER
In the morning, we will sail through the Cockburn Channel to enter Agostini Fjord, where it will be possible to appreciate the glaciers descending from the center of the Darwin Range, some of them reaching the sea.
After breakfast, we will disembark in Zodiac boats for a gentle walk around a lagoon formed by the melting of Aguila Glacier, reaching a point where we can admire it up close.
In the afternoon, we will take another Zodiac navigation excursion, without disembarking, to approach Condor Glacier from a privileged distance. We will learn about glacier formation and its influence on the abrupt geography of the Fuegian channels.

Day 9: MAGDALENA ISLAND AND PUNTA ARENAS
Early in the morning, we will disembark on Magdalena Island —weather permitting. On the island we will observe a colony of Magellanic penguins.
In September and April, this excursion is replaced by a landing on Marta Island, where it is possible to observe South American sea lions from the Zodiac boats. We will finally arrive in Punta Arenas, disembarking at approximately 12:30 hrs.
